McHenry County College to Host Networking Events 

The McHenry County College Career Services Office is hosting two separate Career Networking events featuring employers representing a variety of fields, including business, accounting, healthcare and fitness.

The Business Networking event takes place from 1-3 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 28 in Room B166-167 at MCC. This event focuses on careers in accounting, administrative office management, business, management, marketing, computer information systems and digital media. Students and community members will have the opportunity to meet with employers who will discuss their company and provide information on employment opportunities. A preliminary list of participating employers include: PolyOne Corporation, Rita Corporation, Sherwin-Williams Paint Stores, Snap-on Tools and Working World Staffing Services. Event is co-sponsored by three MCC student clubs: Black Student Union, Business Club and Latinos Unidos.

The Healthcare and Fitness Networking event takes place from 1-3 p.m. on Thursday, March 1 in Room 166-167. This event focuses on careers in health & information technology, nursing, nursing assistant education, occupational therapy assistant, physical therapy assistant, health & fitness education, emergency medical training (EMS) career areas. A preliminary list of participating employers include: Advocate Health Care, Caravel Autism Health, Centegra Health System, Elite Care Management, Hearthstone Communities, Mobile Therapy Centers of America and Sunrise Senior Living.

Students and community members will have the opportunity to meet with employers who will provide information about their companies and employment opportunities. Employers will have the opportunity to meet with students to discuss their company and provide information on employment opportunities. Co-sponsored by the MCC Student Nurses Association and the MCC Student Occupational Therapy Club.

To help individuals prepare for these networking events, the MCC Career Service Office is also offering a series of resume development and networking workshops:

Resume Development Workshops: from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, in Room A125 and from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7 in Room A106. Receive tips and techniques on resume writing or learn how to revise and reformat an existing resume.

How to Network! Workshops: from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday, Feb. 191-2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 202-3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21 and 2-3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, all take place in the Student Life Office, Room A252. Learn how to prepare for a networking event, how to develop a networking strategy, how to prepare your introduction/elevator speech and other key steps to make a successful impression.
